Bacon Green Beans

This is one side-dish I am repeatedly asked to bring to a potluck or family gathering. Try it and you will see why.

Bacon Green Beans

These are the best green beans you can make and they are super easy.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices applewood smoked bacon diced (raw)
  • ½ medium yellow onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 16 oz cans green beans juice reserved
  • 1 tbsp Bourbon Barrel Smoked Sugar
  • ½ tsp Bourbon Barrel Smoked Pepper
  • ½ tsp Bourbon Barrel Smoked Sea Salt

Instructions

  • In a medium sauce pot, cook the bacon on medium heat until almost done
  • Add onion, cook until translucent
  • Add garlic, cook for 1 minute
  • Pour the reserved green bean juice into the sauce pot
  • Add the spices; increase heat to bring to a boil
  • Reduce heat to low, add the green beans to the pot
  • Simmer on low for 20 minutes

Notes

The Bourbon Barrel Smoked spices are from Bourbon Barrel Foods.  They have a number of smoked spices that can add a bit of zing to all of your old recipes.
