Creamed Peas

This is a super easy and quick side dish perfect for any southern meal. We serve cream peas any time we are having fried chicken. It is a fantastic comfort food.

Easy Cream Peas

Wonderfully easy and delicious cream peas. These are great with some southern fried chicken.

Ingredients

  • 2- 15 oz Cans peas
  • cups milk divided
  • ¼ cup flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  • Drain peas, reserving ¼ cup of liquid
  • Pour peas and reserved liquid into stockpot
  • Add 1 cup of milk
  • Heat but do not boil
  • Mix ½ cup of milk with the flour in a shaker and shake well
  • Add flour and milk mixture to the peas and stir
  • Cook over medium heat until thickened
  • Reduce heat to low and cook for about 10 minutes; stirring often
  • Add salt, pepper, and butter; cook for another 5 minutes
  • If the peas are too thick, add a little milk.
